What is Yo-kai Watch?

Yo-kai Watch is a franchise focused on (the generally more light-hearted interpretations of) youkai, creatures from Japanese myths, in a modern world where it's possible for humans to befriend them. As Yo-kai are generally invisible to the human eye, this is often done through the titular Yo-kai Watch, which allows humans to see them. The Yo-kai themselves get up to all sorts of mischief and cause everyday problems for humans, but usually mean no ill will towards them. Some Yo-kai, like Boss Yo-kai and the Wicked Tribe, have greater ambitions, and will try to take over the world or destroy it.

The franchise consists of the game series (mostly monster collectinng JRPGs mostly on the Nintendo 3DS), the anime (which has spanned many seasons, movies, and spin-off-y continuations), and the manga, which actually started before the first game's release for marketing's sake. There's also a LOT of merchandise.

My Relationship with Yo-kai Watch

I've been a Yo-kai Watch fan since early 2016! I found the demo for the first game on the 3DS EShop I believe before its English release and I was instantly hooked on both the battle system and the characters! I have a lot of favourite characters, but of the mascots, my favourite is Whisper!
